“Daily Lavash” Armenia Project

Introduction:

We have been visiting Armenia for many years. We’d organized festivals and holidays in cooperation with the local Jewish community: “Israel’s Jubilee,” (Israel’s independence 50th anniversary, 1998), Passover, “aliyah” from Armenia program, children’s summer camp, medical help during tuberculosis epidemic in prison system, audio Bibles, and help for an orphanage in Yerevan.

Most recently, after praying and seeking the Lord, we were directed to visit Tavush province in eastern Armenia, a border region with Azerbaijan, to the cities of Ijevan and Berd. We’ve seen the needs and made connections with city representatives – the mayor and the director of a museum – and some needy families, single mothers with children. We began a program to help with these needs in the region. The program has several parts: 1. monthly stipends to single parents with children, 2. programs for gifted children, 3. Bible lessons and Bible story reading, with the stories being published in a blog (dailylavash.wordpress.com), 4. new jobs creation.

Our team visited Tavush Province for the first time in September, 2017. As of now the program is active and growing with new families being added, new stories being translated and published, and community being built.

* Lavash – is a soft, thin, unleavened flatbread, a traditional bread that forms an integral part of Armenian cuisine
